Course Description -

  • Define fascia as a continuous, adaptable connective tissue system involved in force transmission, proprioception, and pain modulation, based on current anatomical and research models.

  • Explain the theoretical and physiological principles of myofascial release, including tissue loading, sustained pressure, and nervous system influences.

  • Identify common myofascial restrictions and patterns that contribute to pain, limited range of motion, and altered movement efficiency.

  • Demonstrate safe and effective myofascial release techniques, including palpation skills, hand positioning, pressure modulation, and practitioner body mechanics.

  • Evaluate clinical evidence supporting the use of myofascial release for pain reduction and improved functional outcomes, while recognizing current limitations in the research.

  • Integrate myofascial release into treatment planning, combining assessment findings, client goals, and outcome measures to support functional improvement.

Materials Needed: Sheets, face cradle cover, note taking materials.

Instructors: Seth Forman, Lori Dobbert

Lori is a licensed massage therapist with over forty years of professional experience. Originally licensed in Florida, she earned a BS in Exercise Physiology from the University of South Florida and went on to practice massage in Massachusetts for fifteen years while also teaching in both Massachusetts and New Jersey. Her career has spanned resort and day spas, medical settings alongside osteopaths, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists, as well as corporate massage environments, all of which inform her comprehensive and evolving approach to bodywork and education.

Seth, M.Ed., LMT, CSCS, IIN-HC, JKD-AI, with a passion for athletic performance, began early through sports and martial arts, driving his pursuit of expertise in training. He earned a B.S. in Applied Exercise Science from Bridgewater State College and an M.Ed. in Strength & Conditioning from Springfield College. His career took off at IMG Academies, learning from top coaches before opening his own training practice in 2004. Seth has worked with athletes of all levels and holds certifications in JKD, Filipino Martial Arts, and Health Coaching. He now serves as Head of Education & Training at Kayezen VECTOR and Lead Master Trainer at the Fascia Training Academy.
